I came across a recent blog post written by Joyce Meyer on unity where she said, “Where there’s unity, there’s blessing and anointing. When people are thankful for each other and choose to live in unity, they will experience the power of agreement.”
“How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!” Psalm 133:1 NLT
Think of all of the ideas, plans and dreams you may have had over a lifetime. Somewhere along the way, someone had to agree with those plans. Somewhere there had to be a unified YES! When we’re hired for a job, a team of employers come into agreement about us. When we plan a family vacation, all come into agreement about where to go. What happens if one person disagrees? Typically, we reevaluate and make different plans! Or, what about when friends want to meet for lunch? Several choices are presented and agreed upon. Those are small examples, but what about the big stuff? What happens when important life choices are put on hold for lack of agreement? How do we arrive at unified decisions? Are we praying together to seek God’s will at that time? Are we humbling ourselves to listen for His direction?
Jesus walked in agreement with his Father God COMPLETELY and went to the cross. We now have forgiveness, wholeness, redemption, restoration, healing and all things through the power of Jesus’ agreement and sacrifice. There’s power in agreement!
“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18: 19-20 NIV
I remember leading a ministry meeting several years ago. Whether we knew it or not, the health of the ministry began with those meetings. However, progress would stop when an idea was presented not everyone agreed with. The room would suddenly get quiet and the air would get thick. There was no movement happening! It was so uncomfortable! We would regain momentum when we would talk it through and all agree to either table the idea or go forward in unity with a decision all were comfortable with. Only then the tension would lift and peace would guide our way.
Something to ponder….
What wonder-working, amazing things can we do together in agreement with God’s will?
Am I loving myself and others to God’s best with His purposes in mind?
How can we overcome disagreement and still move forward in unity?
If coming into agreement means compromise, being out of God’s will, or hurting myself, family, or other people we should agree not to move forward.
We can be limitless together. We have the mind of Christ to accomplish infinitely MORE!
